With so many places to see in Missouri, it’s hard to know where to start. Looking for kid-friendly attractions, however, helps to narrow down your choices. Here are three cities in Missouri the whole family can enjoy visiting.
Located in Southwest Missouri, Branson has more than enough family-friendly activities to keep you busy. The Track Family Fun Parks is a great place to start. It has 14 go-kart tracks, a Branson Ferris Wheel that lights up at night, a mini-golf course, batting cages, laser tag, and three arcades with over 250 games to play. This place has something for everyone, whether you’re traveling with toddlers, school-age children, or teenagers.
Stop by The Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure if you want to feed butterflies and see real geckos and poison dart frogs. Wolfe Mountain is perfect for outdoor adventurers; people who weigh between 70 and 275 pounds can fly through the trees on the zipline, while kids ages 3 and up can zoom down the Snowflex tubing hill. If you’re more of a museum-loving family, try visiting the Dinosaur Museum.
If you’re looking for something educational, make sure to visit St. Louis for The Magic House St. Louis Children’s Museum. It has 55,000 square feet of hands-on learning exhibits designed especially for children. Kids can enclose themselves in a giant bubble, paint a masterpiece, play oversized instruments, sit in the president’s desk in a replica oval office, and more. There’s even a special exhibit for infants.
Sports fans will want to check out the Cardinal Hall of Fame and Museum. Looking for some thrilling rides? Head over to Six Flags St. Louis. To get in touch with nature, stop by the Missouri Botanical Garden. Also, no visit to St. Louis is complete without shopping at Crown Candy Kitchen. This popular sweets shop has been open for over 100 years, and it still serves old-fashioned favorites like malts, sundaes, and candy galore.
You’ll find Springfield 40 miles north of Branson, and it’s home to America’s Incredible Pizza Company. It features an all-you-can-eat buffet with over 100 types of pizzas. As if that isn’t enough, it also has salads, hot dogs, tacos, and spaghetti. Once you’ve indulged your appetites, make your way over to the attached entertainment area that has go karts, mini bowling, laser tag, and an indoor trampoline. Little ones can play on the kid-sized rides in Tiny Town.
Another fun attraction is Fantastic Caverns, America’s only ride-through cave. Climb aboard for a tour through the naturally beautiful Ozark Mountains. Other Springfield attractions include the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium, and the Discovery Center of Springfield. At the end of your busy day, you’ll look forward to staying at one of the area’s family-friendly hotels, where you can unwind with a dip in the pool.
While planning your trip to Missouri, consider incorporating at least one of these cities in your itinerary. You just won’t find some of the attractions anywhere else.
