Travel, travel, travel. It is the thing that most people say they want to do more of, but somehow don’t feel they are able to do. Whether it is for monetary reasons, work-related pressures, or a confusion about where to look for the best deals, the world of travel can seem confusing and far too expensive.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, there are plenty of people who are able to take regular trips to the best luxury hotels in Dubai and other destinations without blowing through their yearly budget, losing their job, or selling body parts.

If you want to add some variety to your life, here are three ways to travel more this year.

  1. Save more money.

Money is the biggest reason people say they are unable to travel as much as they desire. However, generally, they could be doing a lot more to save the pennies which, in turn, add up! Even if it is just a lot of small things, think about how much you can simplify your life and crack down on unnecessary spending.

In order to save more money to travel, look seriously at your spending over the course of a month and then ask yourself what you can go without. For example, do you really need to get your nails done every month? Your hair? A daily coffee when you could have it free at the office? The list is endless and personalized for you.

While you don’t need to cut out all the pleasures in life, there are indeed ways you can save $5 a day or $100 a week — which, over time, can save you a couple of thousand dollars.

Before you purchase anything, ask yourself whether you really need said item and be honest with yourself regarding the answer. Each of us needs a lot less than we think, especially when the end result means you can take another trip!

Be strict with yourself on a day-to-day basis and you will only be further rewarded when those small savings turn into a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

  1. Look into cheaper travel options.

If you are truly open to seeing the world, there are plenty of ways that you can do it on a budget. For example, you can take more local trips around your area or your country, as many people underestimate what they can see within a few hours of their home. There is a reason why staycations have become such a popular means for getting away for a weekend or a week.

Additionally, there are plenty of websites that connect you with other travelers around the world who are looking to do house swaps.

On the other hand, “bleisure” trips — mixing business with leisure — are another popular option for employees who have to travel for work. Next time you head off on a business-related trip, look to take a day or two before or after the time you need to be there for work-related purposes to spend some time getting to know the place for leisure.

If you don’t already travel for work, there are ways to initiate it. Do some research into industry-related conferences or trainings you could attend on the company’s dime. If your company has other locations, inquire about working from there for a period of time. Maybe you could even transfer there! When you put your mind to it, you can come up with ways to incorporate more travel into your work-life.

  1. Take advantage of package deals.

Package deals are a fantastic way of arranging an international trip on a budget. One of the benefits is that they are already organized for you, which saves you time and stress; you can just arrive at your destination and start the vacation vibes! Plus, the activities and events that are part of the deal are already tried and tested, so you are guaranteed to have a good time.

Another benefit is that you know beforehand exactly how much to budget, as the price will include meals, accommodation, excursions, and the like. This helps decrease the likelihood of running into unexpected expenses.

Even if you don’t opt to do a full package deal, you should still look into hotel packages wherever you are interested in traveling. Generally, if you book directly through the website of your chosen hotel, you can find incredible deals such as discounts, flexible booking, free night offers and the like. These can make a massive difference in the cost of your dream holiday.
